Liquor Licenses
Brooklyn Community Board 6 reviews new licenses for on-premises consumption. It also reviews applications to alter, or in some cases renew, existing on-premises licenses.
Community Board 30-day Notice
The New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) requires that, in connection with the submission of on-premises alcoholic beverage applications to the SLA, the applicant must provide 30-day advance notice that such an application is being submitted to the community board.

Committee Review Protocol
The community board’s review procedure begins after it receives a 30-day notification form. Please note the SLA requires the 30-day notice be sent by certified mail return receipt requested, overnight mail with tracking number or personal delivery with proof of receipt.
If the notification is for an application for a new on-premises license, or an existing licensee that intends to alter or upgrade its license, an email is sent from the CB6 Office Manager to the applicant requesting that the applicant fill out the CB6 Liquor License Application Questionnaire. Once a completed questionnaire has been returned to the Office Manager, the establishment will be placed on the agenda of the next meeting of CB6’s Permits & Licenses committee. The committee generally meets at 6:30 pm on the fourth Monday of the month.
The applicant is requested to bring **20 copies** of the completed questionnaire with attachments to the meeting.
Attachments may include if applicable:
- a map of the area
- a menu
- a floor plan the Department of Buildings’ Certificate of Occupancy or Letter of No Objection
- a proposed Sidewalk Café Plan, and the Department of Buildings’ approval for use of outdoor space.
You must bring a **sample of the meeting notice** you used to notify the community of the meeting along with a signed Notification Certification form to our committee meeting.
